How the World Works

 

 

In the unit of How the World Works, parents and teachers invited guest speaker to come and show some experiments. The guest speaker is from Nutty Scientists. They came on April 16 and April 17 to show three to four experiments and asked the students to join and involved in their experiment, they also asked the students to wore goggles and apron like a real scientist. Before they started the experiment, they introduce kids what is the difference between atoms, molecules, and polymer. For make it clear and easy, they used gummy bear to make a polymer chain, after that, they started to conduct the simple experiment. Grade 3 students were very enthusiast to involved and amazed with the experiments, they also give a good response and positive feedback.

On 7th February, BINUS PYP students celebrated Global School Play Day, where they got to enjoy one hour of unstructured play time.

How We Organize Ourselves

Grade 3’s Mini Bazaar

December 5, we had our first mini bazaar. All the students put efforts and hard work for the bazaar and they did very well. Guest Speaker Session

Intorduction to Fraction

Fieldtrip to Bank Indonesia Museum

Formative Assessment 1 – Timeline of Money

This is the first formative assessment in this unit. They have to make a timeline of money in a group. These are pictures of their formative assessment:

Barter

As one of the current unit of inquiry, students learn about money. One of the activity is barter. On Friday, November 3, 2017 students brought things from home to swap with their classmates. Once they swap, they can’t get the things back. Students were very happy about the activity and wrote their reflection after the activity.

 

Reflection after Barter Activity:

  1. What did you give up/ start with?
  2. What did you get out of the barter?
  3. Was it a good trade? Was it fair?
  4. How did you decide that this was an “even” or “fair” trade?
  5. Were you able to barter more than one time?
  6. Did you face any difficulties/challenges in doing the barter? Please explain.
